We're looking for a dynamic Radiology AI Annotation Specialist to join our team and help develop reliable and equitable AI models for radiology applications, with a special focus on mammography and tomosynthesis. This role will sit in Santa Clara, CA.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Dive into the exciting world of medical imaging data curation and annotation to support AI model development.
  • Use cutting-edge tools to review and analyze medical images and associated medical records, providing accurate annotations for AI training, primarily for cancer detection.
  • Help develop and enhance efficient annotation tools for managing and tracking curated data.
  • Collaborate with consultant radiologists and Machine Learning Scientists to create standard operating procedures for consistent image annotation.
  • Use your judgment to select methods and techniques for creating well-curated medical imaging datasets supported by ground truth documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve all necessary elements for complete data annotation from a repository of radiology images.
  • Review images on high-resolution workstations and interpret medical records to categorize imaging studies and generate accurate annotations.
  • Continuously improve annotation procedures under the guidance of consultant radiologists to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Provide input to software engineers for developing and maintaining review workstation tools, quality checks, and database population.
  • Work with third-party software companies to define, implement, and test platforms and tools for creating accurately curated data for the AI development pipeline.
  • Travel up to 10% for offsite meetings and visits with radiology experts in the field.

 

What You Need:

  • Education: Associate Science Degree in Radiological Technology (Bachelor’s in Science preferred).
  • Licenses: Active license in radiology (Radiological Technologist, Ultrasound Technologist, MRI Technologist, or CT Technologist).
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years in a radiology department (5+ years in a mammography (MQSA certified) facility preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
    • Comfortable operating and testing various automation tools for data annotation and quality control.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard database user interfaces.
    • Knowledge of database design and development is a plus.
    • Familiarity with DICOM imaging protocols and PACS review workstations is a plus.
    • Basic understanding of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), HIPAA, and Internal Review Board (IRB) protocols.
    • Recent graduates from radiologically oriented programs with a Bachelor of Science degree are encouraged to apply.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $77,000 - $120,500 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
